Sherrie Kinton is a seasoned Search and Rescue professional with over a decade of dedicated experience. Since beginning her SAR journey in 2014, Sherrie has contributed to numerous high-impact teams, including Gulf Coast SAR, the KlaasKIDS National Search Team, and the LA Task Force as a K9 handler. Currently, she serves as Secretary and Team Trainer for Legacy K9 Search Team, where she brings her expertise and leadership to the forefront.

Sherrie has personally trained and certified several search-and-rescue K9s over the years and is currently the proud handler of two nationally certified K9 partners. K9 Journee is certified in Human Remains Detection across a variety of terrains and settings by the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA) and the National Network of Canine Detection Services (NNCDS). K9 Bodhee holds certification in Area Search Level II through the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR).

She is also currently working towards becoming an evaluator for NASAR.

In addition to her K9 handling expertise, Sherrie has received extensive training as a Ground Searcher, with skills encompassing medical trauma response, CPR and First Aid, hazardous materials response, and crime scene preservation. Her certifications, including NASAR Search Technician Level II, underscore her commitment to both the K9 and ground search aspects of SAR operations. As an esteemed dog trainer and AKC CGC Evaluator, Sherrie’s depth of knowledge, unwavering commitment, and leadership make her an invaluable asset to the SAR community.

Over the years, Sherrie has actively participated in numerous search operations, serving in diverse roles including K9 handler, ground searcher, search planner, and Incident Commander. Her versatile experience across these critical functions underscores her adaptability and leadership within the Search and Rescue field.
